Albuquerque-based Array Technologies Inc. has opened an office in Mexico City, marking its latest effort to expand into international markets.
The company, which makes solar tracking systems that tilt and turn solar panels to follow the sun and increase electric output, recently opened offices in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.
The company already has an office in Chile to market trackers in South America. But this is Array’s first office in Mexico, where the government has set an ambitious goal to generate 35 percent of the country’s electric supply from renewable energy sources by 2024.
Array, a homegrown New Mexico firm that launched in 1989, is the largest maker of solar-tracking systems in the U.S. It built about 30 percent of the solar-trackers installed today in utility-scale, ground-mounted solar systems nationwide.
